204                    The Book of Praise.
There let it for Thy glory burn
With inextinguishable blaze; And, trembling, to its source return,
In humble prayer and fervent praise.
Jesus ! confirm my heart's desire
To work, and speak, and think for Thee ;
Still let me guard the holy fire ; And still stir up Thy gift in me ;
Ready for all Thy perfect will, My acts of faith and love repeat;
Till death Thy endless mercies seal, And make my sacrifice complete.
Charles Wesley. 1762.
CLXXXVIII.
Psalm XXXI.
My spirit on Thy care, Blest Saviour, I recline ; Thou wilt not leave me to despair, For Thou art Love divine.
In Thee I place my trust, On Thee I calmly rest; I know Thee good, I know Thee just, And count Thy choice the best.
Whate'er events betide, Thy will they all perform ; Safe in Thy breast my head I hide, Nor fear the coming storm.
